DMX is back and seeking redemption. Wait, let’s rephrase that. DMX is back and seeking redemption on all the naysayers who called him a coward during his ride on the slingshot. If you recall, the Darkman was filmed on the ride yelling and screaming for dear life.
The hilarious video went viral and exploded X back onto the scene. This time, he wanted to show that he’s one of the trillest to ever to do it, and denounce all the haters by attacking the heart-stopping ride again. Hell, he even lit a cigarette in the process. Check out X facing his demons head on.
Now he’s known as a TV Analyst and former NBA Champion but once upon a time Shaquille O’Neal had bars. Okay maybe that’s stretching it but he did release five studio albums including his platinum 1993 debut album, Shaq Diesel and collab with Biggie. He even caused all hell to break loose in the sports world when he dissed former teammate Kobe Bryant in a freestyle some years back. But it would seem that he has finally decided to lay the mic down for good.
When TMZ caught up with him to get his reaction to Russell Simmons saying he would have signed him, Shaq put the nail in the coffin on his rap career.
“I’ll never go back to rapping but if I had the opportunity to sign with him I would definitely have signed with Russell first,” Shaq said. “Would I ever go back [to rapping?] No man. I’m 45 years old.”
Recently TMZ asked Russell Simmons which athlete he would have worked with back in the day. “I wished I worked with Shaquille [O'Neal] earlier on as a rapper,” said Simmons before answering yes that he would have signed the big man.
There’s sure to be a few MC’s who will rest easier tonight now that this news is out.

MTV’s Video Music Awards have become a destination for big-time artists to premiere new music. Kanye West and Pusha T gave an unforgettable 2010 performance of “Runaway,” off of ‘Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Nicki Minaj will look to follow in their footstep when she graces the stage on Sunday, August 24. According to MTV News, Minaj will perform her new single, “Anaconda,” which will hopefully be the final step in releasing the music video.
This is not the first time Minaj is performing at the VMAs. In 2010, she performed a set at the pre-show, and in 2012, she joined Alicia Keys for a performance of, “Girl On Fire.” This will be the first time she takes to the mainstage by herself.

One of the few eccentricities of Guardians of the Galaxy was its soundtrack, which featured jams from the ’70s and ’80s — the type that would get sampled in hip-hop. The soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on this week’s charts with 103,199 copies sold. It’s the most hip-hop thing that graces the top 15.
PARTYNEXTDOOR 2 and Common’s Nobody’s Smiling completely falls off the chart this week after leading the Hip-Hop/R&B fields in their past two respective debut weeks. The New Classic from former XXL Freshman Iggy Azalea leads at No. 18 with 12, 272 units sold, a 4 percent increase from last week. The New Classic was originally released on April 21.
Most of the other albums experienced a drop: Trey Songz’s Trigga from No. 16 to 22 (10,084), Michael Jackson’s Xscape from No. 28 to No. 34 (7,081), John Legend’s Love in the Future from No. 39 to No. 40 (5,790), Pharrell’s G I R L from No. 40 to 41 (5,781) and August Alsina’s Testimony from No. 48 to out of the Top 50. The Beyhive came through though; Beyonce is back in the Top 50 with 4,814 to land at No. 48.

Wiz Khalifa has a lot in store for his upcoming album Blacc Hollywood. With the new LP, he plans to continue the success of his smash single “We Dem Boyz,” which has spun multiple remixes and spent 18 weeks on the Billboard charts.
On the new project fans can expect to hear a collaboration from 2014 XXL Freshman Ty Dolla $ign. Since signing to Wiz’s Taylor Gang they have done a few songs together including Ty’s “Or Nah.” He will appear on three tracks featured on Blacc Hollywood, including “You and Your Friends.”
Wiz explains that the two have a creative kinship. “We have each other. That’s what being a big business is; being able to both bring the best out of each other. I would never depend on Ty, and he would never depend me. We’re just both really, really creative and that’s when the best things happen, when two people are at their best.”
The “Stayin Out All Night” rapper mentioned last month that fans could also expect a feature from Miley Cryus, but is no longer certain. He explained that “”It didn’t get cleared, just because of some things that had to do with the song. I think somebody else ended up paying for the beat, so that song didn’t make it.”
As for now Blacc Hollywood will feature Ty, Nick Minaj, Nas and Juicy J. It is set to drop Aug. 19.

The news of Lil Wayne throwing his hat into sports management by starting an agency and partnering working with PolarisSports—which is affiliated with the CAA agency and GestiFute—was very surprising. The Young Money Mogul made a huge splash by signing international soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course the comparison was immediately made to Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports. They have been in operation for over a year and continue to sign top talent. But when you compared who’s better equip to head a sports agency, who’s better?
Check the breakdown below.
Lil Wayne is a notorious sports buff. The NOLA spitta has been a frequent guest on ESPN. Seriously, he’s been on ESPN’s First Take discussing everything in sports like the NBA Finals, Kevin Durant, NCAA College Final Four, The Green Bay Packers and Tim Tebow. That’s not even counting his time on Around The Horn and his one-on-one with Randy Moss. He’s a huge L.A. Lakers, Green Bay Packers and boxing fan. Wayne literally only tweets when he’s watch sports. Weezy has also penned for ESPN Magazine and on their website. Even though Jay Z was part owner The Brooklyn Nets and was huge influence on the franchise, slight lean goes to Lil Wayne when it comes to sports knowledge.
Edge: Jay Z
Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s network is massive. Forbes ranks him No. 6 among “the most powerful” celebrities in the world. He has grown his Roc Nation empire into a force, currently has numerous business ventures and is worth $520 million. Anything Jigga wants, he has access too.
Yes Hov’s Roc Nation Sports has signed a plethora of talented superstars—Robinson Cano, Kevin Durant, Victor Cruz and Skylar Diggins—but Lil Wayne’s signing of Portugal and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is massive. Ronaldo is one of the most marketable and recognizable sports star in the world. Forbes named Ronaldo the 30th “most powerful” celebrity in the world and seventh among athletes, just edging Kevin Durant. He is without a doubt the biggest star in professional futbol and his fame only continues to grow after the World Cup.
Edge: Jay Z
Jay Z clearly has the edge over Weezy when it comes to experience in the sports industry. Roc Nation Sports has been around for over a year and doing extremely well, young new stars from the NFL, NBA and MLB. Hov was also apart of the ownership team for the Brooklyn Nets. He knows what he’s doing.
Who would you choose?
After the Big Diesel traded in his jersey for commentary job, he always toyed with the idea of returning back into the booth. Well, his time may come. He shot an audition video freestyle for NBA 2K15′s Soundtrack curator, Pharrell, in hopes of securing himself a spot. It’s apparent that Shaq still has his flow from “Can’t Stop The Reign”.
He rapped “Yo, Pharrell, this is Shaq/ Put me on the 2K15 track/ I won’t let you down, that’s just dumb/ Me and you both went platinum.”
Can you say bars?

Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is tributing one of his favorite artists, Michael Jackson, in his latest video. The video for Tity Two Necklace’s “Freebase” is…
Wiz Khalifa’s summer tour, Under The Influence of Music, has started invading smoked-out arenas across the U.S. with a ticket that includes, Ty Dolla $ign, Rich Homie Quan, Sage the Gemini, Mack Wilds, Iamsu! and DJ Drama. One name missing from the original docket is Tyga who announced he was backing out of the tour, back in April. At the time, the departure didn’t cause a stir publically, but apparently Khalifa felt some kind of way about how it was all handled. Wiz, who is also prepping the release of his forthcoming album, Blacc Hollywood, recently sat down for an interview with Philly’s Power 99 and revealed T. Raww’s split from the tour wasn’t exactly amicable. “He didn’t tell me at all,” said Wiz. “His people was just like, ‘Nah, we ain’t gonna do it.’”
The Pittsburgh MC went on to say he has no beef with the YMCM rapper but left no question as to how he felt about how he carried out his decision to slit from the cross country jaunt. “I just felt like that was corny; we’re better than that and I’m sure he’ll probably hear interviews where I said that it was ‘wack,’ and stuff like that,” Wiz added. “I’m the type of person…he know’s what it is with me. We cool and that’s the homie and that was just a wack move, but we cool.”
Check out the entire interview, above.
